Sissy

 Sissy

Sissy was like every girl

That dreamed of her Prince Charming

But then one day he up and left

And life became alarming

She had four boys

From nine to three

Now what was she to do

The life that she had planned so carefully

Must now begin anew

The house the car the swimming pool

Right down to every letter

But that had all just gone away

And now only God knew better

She was bent

She was broken

How was she to know

That through her Faith

The Spirit worked

To help those young boys grow

The path was hard

And full of doubt

At times no food or heat

But Sissy was committed now

And would never taste defeat

She begged and borrowed

Scratched and clawed

Whatever was required

Her boys came first

No matter what

Even when she tired

Mom loved hard

And we would fight

She called us Dirty Dogs

But all along she was there just

Guiding us toward

The Light

Talking Heads

Everyone has an opinion. We see these Talking Heads everyday on television and social media. Most of it is just Hot Air.  Choose your mentors and advisers wisely think of the people that have supported and loved you.

Do your own homework and research and form you own opinions. Be open minded and flexible. Leaving the judging to others. You know what's best for you trust your intuition and surround yourself with people that encourage and believe in you.

Seek out experts that have accomplished what you desire. The most successful are those that have helped others achieve their dreams.

We are bombarded with negative news on a constant basis, and it's important that we tune out that noise and focus on the Positive.  If we are to accomplish our desires, we must be Optimistic and Hopeful. We know there may be setbacks, but we also know that we are resilient and determined and we can accomplish our desires with a little Faith.

What we desire, desires us.  Keep your focus on the goal.

And always keep the Faith.  With God all things are possible.

Resilient Optimist

We sometimes get stuck in our current situation and it traps us.  When we are optimistic we know that everything we will work out and we will overcome any obstacle.  We have lost some of our natural resiliency in our social media instant gratification daily living.

We have to tune into our personal channel or wavelength and focus on the goals we want to accomplish.  We have to feed and nourish our dreams to make them come true.  A little faith and knowing

That This too shall pass.

Think of all the advantages we have in modern life.  We need to remember that there was no running water, electricity, cable, cellphones, internet, or even color tv not that long ago.

Say your prayers. Know that we are not alone that most people are rooting for our success. Focus on your desired outcome and be grateful when all of the good things show up in your life.  And then help someone else on their journey.

Be an Optimist. And Keep the Faith.

Be Glad

One of my favorite spiritual quotes is

"This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad"

Let use this a powerful reminder to enjoy the gift of life and each day.  We all have times where we are upset, mad, and even sad, that's part of the human condition. But we are reminded life is a celebration and we should be smile, be thankful, be grateful and

 Be Glad.

Asterisk Talley

Asterisk Talley is a 17 year high school student that just won the 2026 US Women's Amateur at the Pete Dye Honors Course in Tennessee.

Asterisk which is a unique name means Little Star in Greek. Who knew!

Asterisk finished 2nd at the 2024 US Girl's and Women's Amateur as a 15 year old.  She has finished 2nd at the 2025 Women's Masters and was leading the 2026 Women's Masters before experiencing a setback on the challenging 12th hole. Golf is a humbling game.

The US Women's Amateur is the hardest tournament to win. The Amateur is a weeklong event and after two days of stroke play the top 64 players the remaining players compete in Match play. Match play is won by winning on a hole by hole basis.

The Championship is played on Sunday with a 36 hold match with a short break for lunch. The Amateur required incredible stamina and focus. Asterisks' Dad was carrying her bag throughout the event and what a dream come true to watch your daughter that has devoted years perfecting her golf to achieve the pinnacle of Amateur golf.

Asterisk displayed resiliency, grit, and determination to overcome setbacks and win the 2026 US Women's Amateur. Well played Little Star.

Investing In Yourself

The best investment you can make is always in Yourself.

And the most important determinant of personal success is your Attitude.  Our Thinking and Attitude determine our outcome. What are you expectations.  Do you expect good things in your life, are you asking for all your wonderful desires.

What are you inputs.  Just like good nutrition to feed our bodies we need to feed our minds and souls the good stuff.  Fill your life with love, kindness, faith, hope, charity, and generosity.  We have all setbacks in life, that's part of the human experience but we have to trust that things will work out.

When we continue to focus on what we desire, we learn that what we desire desires Us. Keep believing, keep moving forward,

You can accomplish anything but you must first expect in from Yourself.

Keep the Faith.

Red Onions

Red onions are a powerful food that can change your health. Onions are high in antioxidants like quercetin and anthocyanins which give the onions there red purple color.  Onions are high in fiber, sulphur and flavonoids excellent for blood pressure and digestion.

Onions are loaded with Vitamin C and great for your skin and hair. Another wonderful thing is that they are inexpensive.  Onions can also help with your blood sugar and blood clots. Although the taste may not suit everyone, you need to include in your nutrition plan.  They are that powerful.

You can juice, saute, fry, or add raw onions to your salads just make sure you eat them.

Red onions are a good source of quercetin, a plant compound known for its antioxidant properties. Quercetin has been studied for its role in helping reduce oxidative stress and supporting overall health.

Joyful

 Mallory Joy

Is one year old

With a smile

that betrays

her heart of gold

With eyes of blue

And porcelain skin

She lights up the room

With her cheerful grin

She laughs and giggles

As she waddles around

Her wings

Fluttering gently

As she floats off of the ground

Our Joyful Angel

Sent from Heaven above

Has graced our family

And filled us with Love

Butterflies

The beautiful Yellow Tiger Swallowtail butterflies joined us for breakfast on the patio. The Tiger Swallowtail is one of nature's remarkable specimens. The butterflies are wonderful pollinators and the female can lay hundreds of eggs is her short two month lifetime. The Tiger Swallowtail is one of the largest butterflies.

The Butterfly bush attracts all types of Butterflies including the brillilant black and orange Monarch. The beautiful purple bush emits a lilac scent and attracts bees and birds.  A virtual pollinator heaven.

We are surrounded by the miracle of Nature and God every moment.

Norman Rockwell

Norman Rockwell is the great American painter whose paintings graced the cover of the weekly Saturday Evening Post. Rockwell's paintings had the ability to capture what Americans were feeling at any given time in their lives.

This painting Breaking Home Ties captures the spirit of what every family and Father and Son experience when it's time to leave the nest.  The son is excited going off to college to start a new life while Dad is wistful and perhaps longing for days gone by.  Normal Rockwell is one of America's great national treasures.  So many of his paintings will bring a smile to your face.

Squeeze the Lemon

The simple lemon is one of the most powerful foods you can eat. Lemons are loaded with vitamin C including the peel and seeds.  Lemon juice is a great detoxifier cleansing the liver and kidneys. Lemon juice also counteracts oxlates and can help eliminate kidney stones.

Enjoy your lemon juice in the morning on an empty stomach. One thing that you can do a regular basis is to simply throw the entire lemon in your Vitamix and it will produce a lemon juice powerhouse that you can water down to suit your taste.

If you are looking to do a cleanse, all you need is the simple lemon.  A little green tea with lemon juice is a powerful tonic. The lemon can help restore your immune system reactive by cleansing your liver and kidneys by removing any toxins in your system. No special pills or yucky drinks just a 10 cent lemon will restore your health and well being.

The Buck Moon

Welcome to the Buck Moon. The Buck Moon is a full moon that arrives in July and is the time when the male deer antlers begin growing. Fun fact that I never knew. Funny story I didn't even know that bucks shed their antlers.

The young Buck in enjoying a rest at the castle.

When I told my brother he laughed and asked why are the woods are not filled with antlers. We made a little side wager, it turns out the antlers drop after the mating season and then begin to decompose and are eaten by wildlife for the calcium and phosphorous. I'm still waiting to collect!

Jay Leno is a Good guy.  A comedian and host of the Tonight Show for many years, he saved his Tonight Show salary while living off his comedian income while working side jobs.  Jay has been married for 40 plus years and his wife has dementia.  Jay has stood by herself and is actually her primary caregiver. Jay's ethos is how may we serve.  And how can he give back with all the blessings his received.

You Inc.

 You Incorporated. You Inc.

No matter who you may work for remember that you are always working and representing yourself.  While we are working for another company, we work hard and represent the company to the best of our abilities.  We are Professionals and carry ourselves in a professional matter no matter the circumstances. Just like an athlete playing on a losing team, we work hard, strive to learn and get better, and keep a positive attitude and mindset.

While we are working we pay ourselves first.  We save, invest, live beneath our means, and focus on building financial security.  Our financial security provides freedom and choices, and enables us to help and serves others.

We may work for another company our entire lives, but we know and understand that the best You is also the best employee and the best Owner.

Invest in yourself.  You are the best employee you will ever have.

Something Bigger Than Yourself

One of the keys to happiness is having a goal or future that involves something bigger than yourself. Many service people inherently have this and of course parents do also but may not realize while raising the little lovebirds.  When we are younger we are focused on building our lives, buying, acquiring and as we mature this concept becomes secondary especially as we start our families.

When you decide to have children, you are deciding to nurture and care for them and help them become productive adults. And as we grow older, we understand that all the work acquiring life's goodies is meaningless without the love in our lives. Grandchildren really accentuate this point, when you hold the next generation in your arms you understand this clearly.  From the children to the grandchildren they are the very definition of love and service.

The concept of How May I Serve has many applications.  And for us to have a fulfilling life full of love and gratitude, we need to instill this idea of Service into our lives.  What good are all the trinkets if we are without Love.

Love and Service are the road to happiness.  How may We serve. God Bless.

Social Security

So much talk of Social Security and Medicare and how they will be out of funds and insolvent after folks have contributed throughout their working lives for a retirement income. One of the flaws of these Security funds is the investment vehicle.  The funds are invested in  United States Treasuries which pay a low yield that barely keeps up with inflation.

The simple solution of course is investing a portion of these taxpayer funds in a higher yielding long term investment like the S&P 500 index and even the Nasdaq 100 index.  These index funds can produce long term returns of close to 10% surpassing inflation while creating a surplus of funds that will secure the Retirement programs for the long term.

The solution requires no additional taxpayer or government funds but let's the long term market compounding do the work. When we take into account reinvesting dividends into the returns of these index funds is even higher.

The solution is simple. The USA has some of the best capital markets in the world and it's time we use our financial strength to improve our own Balance sheet.  We can reduce our national deficit starting with the two Retirement expenses.

America is a problem solving nation and is now time to Solve the Problem.

Raison d'etre

Who doesn't love a good French word. Raison d'etre meaning reason for being or reason to be. The concept of having a purpose in life doesn't have to be hard just enjoying the gift of life is enough.

We can combine How may we serve with our reason for being. Just spreading a little love and kindness into the world can have a tremendous impact in our world. We want to be productive, we want to build and accomplish and we can do all those things, but it all starts with gratitude for simply being given the gift of life.

As we are reminded, this is the day the Lord has made let us rejoice and be glad.

Be patient with yourself.  Warren Buffet who amassed a billion dollar fortune said he knows many wealthy people and at the end of the day the most important factor in life was whether the person was loved. The fame and fortune mattered little if your family and personal life was in tatters.

Can we have it all. Yes, but we need to focus on the important things are everything else will fall into place. As Jesus reminds us "you can do all that I have done and more if you but believe."

Caffeine Drug

Caffeine is the number one drug in the world. The world runs on caffeine. And like other drugs we have to monitor our use. Everyone enjoys the boost caffeine can provide but like anything we don't want to be dependent on the kick.

Whether it's the Red Bull, the Starbucks, or the Coke we need to be aware of how much caffeine we are consuming and just as importantly the sugar that accompanies these beverages. They can wreck our health.

The coffee bean has some excellent antioxidant properties and green tea is high in polyphenols yet relatively in caffeine.

A great alternative before any caffeine, especially upon just waking in the morning is a pinch of sea salt with lemon water. An excellent detox for the kidneys and liver and full of Vitamin C.

As the Huey Lewis song goes, I wanna new drug.

What's In a Name

The most important word in the universe is a person's Name.

Why?

When you think about it for a moment that single person is the most important person in the world.  When you call someone by their name you validate them, you acknowledge them, you see them as valuable.  And you connect with them on a personal even friendship level.

Each of us is unique with a Divine Spirit.  We have a one of a kind voice, fingerprint, and DNA.

A simple act of Kindness that we can all do is to just simply call a person by their Name.

God Bless.

Burnt Shanty

There is a beautiful mountain road named Burnt Shanty that I came across recently and was intrigued by the name and its origin. The name of the road came from a logging village that was removing lumber from the Pocono mountains when a fire swept through the village burning the shanties where the lumberjacks and other folks lived.

Now a 100 years later a beautiful town has risen from the ashes where hundreds of beautiful homes surround a stunning lake.

The Burnt Shanty has been transformed and may it shine for another 100 years.

Drama

One of the easiest things we can do to improve our quality of life is to remove the Drama from our lives. Turn down the negative news and Social Media clips that are meant to get a reaction, but most importantly focus on the loved One in your life. We all know that family and those closest to us can push our buttons, but we have the power to control how we react. Drama causes stress and that can steal our health and well being.

We have the choice to choose Peace, Love, and Kindness regardless of what others our doing. This concept of Peace in our lives is very powerful. We know the saying don't sweat the small stuff and remember it's all small stuff. Why should we let little inconveniences steal our Joy.

We are in Control.

One of the ways we can expand our Peace and Joy is to immerse ourselves in Nature. We spend too much time inside and on screens.  We need to disconnect and get Outside.  Fresh air and Sunshine does a body good.

Let there be Peace on earth and let it begin with me.

Lenny

 Be A Giver

Lenny is a Giver.  Why is it that those with the least give the most.  My friends Reno and Jimmy who could not have children of their own helped raise over twenty children and directly impacted thousands of lives in the community.

Lenny is loved by the Community and will give you the shirt off his back. Ask him for anything and he will find a way to help. you. He was honored by the town in a parade where everyone came out to cheer him.

Lenny will do anything for a child and just the other day at the end of the school year a child came up to him and said Thank You for saying Hi to me every day you really made me feel special.

Just those simple acts of kindness can make all the difference in a person's life. We should all try to be more like Lenny.

How may we serve.

Investing

One of the great investors Peter Lynch of the incredible Fidelity Magellan fund always advise to invest in what you know.  Invest in great companies and hold for the long term. “When you sell your great companies and add to the losers, it's like watering the weeds and cutting the flowers."

A wonderful company especially those run by the Founders is like a beautiful flower that we need to just keep watering. Invest in yourself and your future. Wealth is within your reach.

Alive

Is there anything better in life when you truly feel alive.  You leave behind the mundane and experience life like it should be fresh and exciting.  A think the one word that captures this exuberant feeling is Love. When you have a Love in your life you have this electricity coursing through your body and even the basic simplest tasks are energized with joy and passion.

So we must seek it out this Love of our lives for it is there for all of us and it must be explored and found for without it life is bland. Keep seeking friends because we all deserve a love like no other and compromise is out of the question.  Seek and we shall find. Ask and it shall be given.

With a Love like that we can light up the whole world.  Starting with ours.

The Pieta - Michelangelo

The Pieta is a sculpture by Michelangelo that is considered one of the greatest works of art ever created. When Michelangelo was 23 years old, he was commissioned by a cardinal to produce “the most beautiful work of marble in Rome, one that no living artist could better.” It was to capture the moment the Virgin Mary held Christ in her arms after he was taken down from the cross.

Accepting the challenge, the relatively unknown young man got to work on a block of Carrara marble. Less than 2 years later, the work was installed at the cardinal's grave, on the very same day he died. When revealed, it was met with sheer disbelief. Most doubted it was the young man’s work, so he carved into the sash across Mary's chest: “Michelangelo Buonarroti of Florence made this.”

La Pietà embodies the power of beauty as a transcendent force. It takes the worst possible human tragedy — the loss of a grieving parent — and transforms it into something that helps you to instead see the ecstatic joy of human life. Michelangelo saw in the dead body of Christ such compassionate suffering that it drove him to create the most beautiful thing ever hewn from a block of marble. Vasari called it a “miracle that a formless block of stone could ever have been reduced to a perfection that nature is scarcely able to create in the flesh.” La Pietà now lives at St. Peter’s Basilica, where it has been for over 500 years.

George Washington and the Continental Army - Fort Washington, Pennsylvania

 History

George Washington as both Commander of the Continental forces and as America's First President in the original colonial Capitol Philadelphia spent years in the what is now Montgomery County, PA. The battle of Germantown, The battle of Whitemarsh, and of course wintering the Army for six months in frigid Valley Forge. This entire area is 20 miles and Germantown and Whitemarsh are very close to Philadelphia only a few miles from city center.  And while the Colonials fought many valiant battles they most likely lost more men at Valley Forge with the brutal frigid weather,  lack of supplies, and harsh living conditions than all the battles combined. Valley Forge is now a National Park and hallowed ground.

Following its defeat at the Battle of Germantown, the Continental Army camped at several different sites before choosing a more permanent, strategic location in Whitemarsh Township.

More than 12,000 soldiers arrived to set up camp on November 11, 1777. The high ground where George Washington made his camp was easily defendable against British attacks. A handful of skirmished occurred in early December, but the American's superior position dissuaded the British from a large-scale attack.

After a month in Whitemarsh, Washington abandoned the camp and moved toward Valley Forge, a similarly defendable position where the troops could build more suitable quarters and better defend the precious iron forges along the Schuylkill River.

Very little remains from the encampment in what is now Fort Washington State Park. Fort Hill was at the western end of the positions and the site of the namesake fort, though all traces are lost. Militia Hill was the position of the Pennsylvania militia during the encampment. The Clifton House, a former tavern located within the park boundary, now houses a museum and library.

Hope Lodge, a historic home adjacent to the park, is open for tours on select days throughout the year.

May Freedom and Liberty continue to ring loudly throughout the world.  God Bless America!

St. Matthew Ask

 W

St. Matthew the former tax collector that become a beloved Apostle of Jesus and who documented many of Jesus' sermons while traveling with The Good Lord. Matthew in this piece of scripture reminds us that with God all things are possible but we do need to ask and continue knocking on the door until it opens. We have our plans and God has even better plans for us.  We must be patient at times and know that God knows best, and when you see your dreams unfold before you stay humble, give thanks, and share your success gladly with others. The Lord loves a cheerful heart and giver.

 Matthew 7:7-11
7 “Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you. 8 For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or who is there among you, who, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, who will give him a serpent? 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

Heaven on Earth

Another wonderful quote by Teacher, Mentor, and friend to humanity Wayne Dyer.  Dr. Dyer

reminds us that we are responsible for creating our own world. We create our Heaven on Earth

with our commitment to God and his teachings. Every day we choose out thoughts and actions

which gives us the power to have direct control over our lives and outcomes. Write your dreams

down, believe in yourself and know that God is always by your side even during setbacks, Jesus

reminds that with the Faith of a tiny mustard seed we can move mountains. Keep God close, pray

and give Thanks and Praise for all the things you desire begin to show up in your life. And as Dr.

Dyer reminds us, Infinite Patience brings immediate results.  Trust in God and believe in yourself

and you will live a life beyond your dreams.

Own The Day

In the year. He is rich who owns the day, and no one owns the day who allows it to be invaded with fret and anxiety. Finish every day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities, no doubt crept in. Forget them as soon as you can, tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely, with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense. This new day is too dear, with its hopes and invitations, to waste a moment on the yesterdays.    -   Ralph Waldo Emerson

The Power of Language

Your Words Matter

In Iran, some book markets leave their books out on the streets overnight, trusting the local saying: “The reader does not steal, and the thief does not read.”

Your language and Your words can change your life.  Speak highly of yourself and others. Speak and think highly of your dreams and goals and as they begin to come true you will soon understand we are what we think. And our thoughts define us and our reality so we must remember to Choose our Language wisely.

We are just magnets so attract all the wonderful things you desire in your life. Take time to just write down your goals, don't overthink it our desires change frequently and that's fine.  Don't try to figure out how you will accomplish everything, the Good Lord will assist you quietly in your work.  Ask and receive. Be of good cheer, expectant and hopeful. And then be sure to give back when you do receive remain humble and grateful because that just increases our abundance and allows us to Serve and Share in more profound ways. Jesus reminds us, that we are lanterns glowing with the Holy Spirit and we need to uncover our Light for the whole world to see the glory of God.

Let it Shine!

God Bless. God Speed.

Coach K
