Butterflies

The beautiful Yellow Tiger Swallowtail butterflies joined us for breakfast on the patio. The Tiger Swallowtail is one of nature's remarkable specimens. The butterflies are wonderful pollinators and the female can lay hundreds of eggs is her short two month lifetime. The Tiger Swallowtail is one of the largest butterflies.

The Butterfly bush attracts all types of Butterflies including the brillilant black and orange Monarch. The beautiful purple bush emits a lilac scent and attracts bees and birds.  A virtual pollinator heaven.

We are surrounded by the miracle of Nature and God every moment.

Heaven on Earth

Another wonderful quote by Teacher, Mentor, and friend to humanity Wayne Dyer.  Dr. Dyer

reminds us that we are responsible for creating our own world. We create our Heaven on Earth

with our commitment to God and his teachings. Every day we choose out thoughts and actions

which gives us the power to have direct control over our lives and outcomes. Write your dreams

down, believe in yourself and know that God is always by your side even during setbacks, Jesus

reminds that with the Faith of a tiny mustard seed we can move mountains. Keep God close, pray

and give Thanks and Praise for all the things you desire begin to show up in your life. And as Dr.

Dyer reminds us, Infinite Patience brings immediate results.  Trust in God and believe in yourself

and you will live a life beyond your dreams.

Joseph the Father

Joseph is the husband of Mary and father of Jesus.  The name Joseph means "God will add" which is fitting because Joseph is added to the lives of Mary and Jesus to guide them on their holy mission where life is made new again for all of us experience.

And now we our the Blessed Virgin Mary Mother of God and of course we have our Jesus Lord Christ but Joseph the erstwhile servant Dad is left a little in the shadows.

Like many fathers Joseph is somewhat in the background he is the guide, the escort, the shepherd.

We fathers and dads today must realize our role to play even if it feels like we are in the background.  Like our heavenly Father, Son, and Holy Spirit we serve and shepherd the family.  We nurture, care, teach, protect, and serve the mother and children a joyous, glorious, life everlasting.

Fathers be steadfast and follow the path of our heavenly Father and Shepherd who has sent us his beloved Son Jesus the Son of both God and Man to show us the path.  When we stay close and follow his example, teachings, and Word our path is made smooth.

Let's be strong Fathers for all our families.

We do all in Christ which strengthen us.

Amen.

The Children

It all begins with the Family.  Our country and the world is based on the foundation of strong families.  If we look at the great nations throughout history they have this common theme of strong families, communities, country, and world.

But before all that.  We must begin in the home.  Mothers and Fathers stay together and raise your children.  Keep your relationship strong, their will be ups and downs but stay the course the destination is worth the journey.  For when you are older and look and the beautiful family and children you have helped create, with the Good Lord's blessing of course, you will sit in wonder and be amazed and what you have created.

The children are a blessing and a gift! And as Jesus reminds us, Suffer the Children which simply means to care, protect, love, and cherish them among all.

So ask God for help on your loving journey raising the family it is worth the sacrifice.  Our Single Mother Helen Ann Keel raised her four headstrong boys and shaped them into fine men.  Mom relied on the Blessed Mother and her faith in God to help her and us on the journey.  She lifted us up and great personal sacrifice and now we are paying it forward with our families.

To who much is given, much is expected.  And now we will carry her love forward that she has infused in us to Suffer the Children and lift them up all over the world in Jesus' name we pray.

Thank you Good Lord for providing a loving Mother that sacrificed her personal well being for that of her Lovebirds.

All our Love Mom.

Your Loving son Tommy

God Power Poem

Who is this God

that we barely know

Who brings us the rain,

the wind and the snow

He created the world

And gave us new life

And yet we persist

with the sin and the strife

God gave us the Word

To teach and to guide

Life is a blessing

taken in stride

The Lord forgives and

makes things right

With His wisdom He gives us

Power and might

Get to know Him

Our Father above

We are his children

Feel the Love

How can we praise Him

Learn to be still

Try and stay humble

To do His will

The Lord is merciful

Full of grace

Clear out the noise

And give Him some space

Jesus tells us that

Peace

is the way

Follow the Word

And try not to stray

Let us be Thankful

Lifting our voice

We have this day

Let us Rejoice

We are forgiven

We are part of the

Trine

Father, Son, Holy Spirit

Of the Blessed Divine

With God all things are possible.

God Bless!

Enough

 When the world practices Tao

         horses fertilize the fields.

When the world ignores Tao

        horses are bred for war.

There is no greater calamity than desire

             no greater curse than greed.

Know that enough is enough

           and you'll always have enough.

Fathering

 The Importance of Fathers

Being a Father is the best "job" you will ever have.  The job is not easy but anything worthwhile entails sacrifice. We men are inherently selfish, we think the entire world revolves around us. OK that's not too far off.

There is nothing in life you will do, achieve, or accomplish more important or gratifying than raising loving, caring, and productive children. Loving and teaching the children is the parents and Father's primary responsibility.  And as the great basketball coach John Wooden once said, that the best thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother. So true.

Once the children are born our priorities shift. We know that marriages aren't perfect, but we must do our best and commit to each other and the children. One of the reasons younger people are hesitant to get married or have children is that so many have come from dysfunctional families. And while we can teach and lecture our children while they grow, we know that it goes in one ear and out the other. We also know that no matter what we say, they are always watching us. And our actions are more important than our words.

One of the benefits of being raised by a single mother was learning the value of resiliency.  Despite the challenging times of no heat or lack of food, she was there for us. She simply stayed and did her best. Parents and fathers must keep their commitments our children and families our depending on us.

And as you grow older and the dirty diapers and midnight feedings fade, you will enjoy the loving glow of being surrounded by your Lovebirds.  When I get to spend a few hours playing golf with my boys it is the most enjoyable thing in the world.

Fathers need to get their priorities straight.  The big house, fancy car, and all the money in the world means nothing if your children and family are in tatters. Find a good partner, love them, and raise your children.

Time is passing quickly and they will be adults in a blink of an eye.  And when your wonderful children turn into good adults, you will reflect for a moment and say, with God's help look what we created. You can do it and it will certainly be the best thing you ever accomplish.

We have a wonderful example in Jesus. He made the ultimate sacrifice for his children,  and we are called to just be there for our children and do our best. Keep God close.  And remember with God all things are possible.  And as Jesus said, you can do all that I have done and more if you but believe.

Coach K

May The Force Be With You

 Star Wars

The year was 1977 and the classic blockbuster movie Star Wars was released.  I remember sitting in the movie theater as a young teenager just mesmerized.  When the movie ended I just sat in my seat not wanting the movie to end and not wanting to leave.

The iconic movie created by George Lucas has had such an impact that it has influenced our culture to this very day. The plot is a familiar theme of good overcoming evil but with a futuristic space twist. The famous saying and slogan from the movie is, "May the Force be with you"

The Force referenced is a secular word for Spirit or God. This universal force that permeates everything we say and do.  And for so many of us that are not familiar with this God Force may I humbly suggest you get to know it.  We are here on earth and have the privilege to experience this gift called Life. It's disheartening when I hear so may young people discouraged by what's going on in the world today.  Don't believe the hype. The world has always had it's challenges but we have come so far at improving the lives of the human race.  There will always be challenges just like there is in our every day lives.  And we will overcome them all with the grace of God.

You can harness this God force in your everyday life and use it to better your own life and the world as a whole. When we all live from our highest selves we can improve our society as a whole.  Our attitudes and beliefs can literally change the world.  Read about the life of Jesus and his teachings, focus on his spoken word which you can access in the Book of John from the bible.

Jesus tells us that we can do all that he has done and more if we but believe and that we All we made in his divine image.  So let's use that power to help ourselves, our families, and the world at large.  Disconnect from the negativity and focus on the gift of life, the beauty, and all the goodness that abounds in the universe.  You have the choice and the decision is yours.  Your attitude can be the difference so choose to have a good attitude.

And as the good book say, "This is the day the Lord has made let us rejoice and be glad".

May the God force be with you!

With Love,

Coach K

Plant The Seed

 Growth

Everything we do in life begins with a thought an idea, a seed.  And just like the farmer plants the seeds to grow the crops, and the gardener to grow the tomatoes and flowers, so it is with us in realizing our goals and dreams.

Plant the seed.  When we think of the things we'd like to accomplish and achieve we can be intimidated or overwhelmed in trying to achieve all of these lofty wonderful things.  But before we start spinning our wheels, we simply start at the beginning and just begin by writing them down some will fall away and become unimportant over time other new ones will appear as your life and situation changes, it's all good.

But just like the farmer we must plant our seeds of dreams and desires. We think about them, we plan for them, and most importantly we act on them. Step by step, one bite at time. We cultivate our soil, we plant our seed, we fertilize, and then sit back and let nature do it's thing with sunshine and rain. The farmer can water and weed if needed but he can't hurry nature. He doesn't go out to the field and try pulling on the shoots to make the crops grow faster.  And so it is with us and our aspirations.

Plant your dream! Nurture it and watch Nature do it's thing. Don't worry or fret do your part and nature and time will do the rest. But we must begin!  Nature of course is just another word for God.  And we know that with God all things possible. All things!

For example, we all can have the goal of financial security.  We begin by paying ourselves first, saving a little, sacrificing a little. Whatever the amount $5, $10, whatever you can spare that money goes into your savings or investment account.  We plant the money seed, nurture it, and in time become financially secure.  We will have to do without, we will make sacrifices to achieve our goal.  I cutback on the Starbucks, buy the nice used car, give up smoking (double benny!).  These dreams are available to everyone one of us.  We all have reasons or excuses for not achieving something.  I'm too poor, I don't make enough, nobody loves me, life is unfair.

 Balderdash and Fiddlesticks!!!

We all have our mountains to climb and obstacles to overcome to achieve our desires and you and I are no different than the Great Achievers! So let's get busy living our best life our dream life.

Plant the seed. Ask for God's help. With the faith of a tiny mustard seed we can move mountains!

Wolgang Amadeus Mozart - Let The Music Play

There is a wonderful saying, "Don't live without sharing the music inside you." The incredible Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart born in 1756 composed some of the most beautiful, exquisite, classical music ever heard. Mozart was blessed with a devoted father Leopold that instructed and encouraged him at a very young age.  Leopold was an accomplished violinist and better known for being an extraordinary teacher of the violin. The violin was his preferred instrument and he would encourage Wolfgang to play the violin despite his reluctance.

Mozart spent his childhood immersed in music which launched his virtuoso talent at the age of three. He and and his sister Nannerl would play and perform to kings and courts across Europe. He not only was a virtuoso harpsichord or piano player, where he was pretty much self taught but he also was a virtuoso violinist.  He actually wrote five violin concertos in his teens and never composed another piece for the violin.

Mozart maintained a bit of child like wonder throughout his 35 years of life.  He composed and produced a tremendous amount of beautiful music in a very short period of time and that music has resonated down through the ages. Despite only living 35 years, he made sure that he shared his incredible talent and music with the world, and we are all better for knowing his divine creations.

For those of you that have not experienced Classical music whether it's Mozart, Bach, or Beethoven take the time to give it a try and a listen.  After being exposed to pop and rock music for most of my life, I listened to Mozart for the first time when I was 30 years old and was stunned and astounded by the melodic sound. I remember quietly saying wow! This is the most beautiful music I've ever heard.  That's why it's lasted 270 years!

If you want to know a little more about Mozart, there is an excellent movie called Amadeus that perhaps takes some poetic license but still is an enjoyable story.

We are all given inherent gifts from God and it's up to us to use them.

Let's make sure we share our Music with the world and remember to

Let the Music play!

Daily Blessing

 The Gift

As we begin each day and get ready for all the hustle and bustle, and all the things we would like to do and accomplish.  Remember to take a moment and give thanks and praise for the gift of life.

We often take these gifts of life, breath, and each moment for granted.  Stay humble and grateful, gentle, joyful and thankful.  Be at peace and celebrate.  Keep God first. And start every day with a powerful thought from scripture;

"This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad"

Say this throughout the day.  When a challenge arises, keep this thought in your mind and heart. And be thankful for the opportunity to overcome any challenge with God's help.

God Bless.

Shay - Our Cavalier King Charles

 Dog

It just hit me Dog spelled backwards is

God!!!

Now we know why dogs are man's best friend.  And so it is with us and our lovely, beautiful, gentle, and graceful member of the family Shay.  Shay is our 12 year old Cavalier King Charles that was a gift for our 10 year old daughter Morgan. Morgan is the first girl in the family after ten consecutive boys and the girl that Grandmom K always wanted.

So, when she began asking for a dog at the age of three she planted the seed with Mom and Dad. We had three  little lovebirds at the time so things were a little busy, so we waited when they could all chip in and help nurture our little precious puppy. Cavaliers are wonderful family dogs, so gentle, and terrific with children. And of course she is so cute!

Now fast forward twelve years Morgan is a college graduate and an independent strong successful young woman and our puppy is now 84 and the Head of the household.  What wonderful teachers dogs are and this our loving best girl Shay.

Why do people love dogs?

Unconditional love is the reason.  Always a wagging tail to greet you. Our Shay always has a smile and kind word, is ready to snuggle and sit on your lap or snore in your ear to put you at ease. She's never grumpy, mean, or angry.  She just wants to sit with you enjoy your company and be your friend.

Friendship and love is really just about being there for each other. The room can be silent but you can feel the love. Just her gentle presence has brought so much joy and happiness to our home and taught us all to be better human beings.  I asked my bride what was the one thing we did for the family after 35 years. She suggested travel as a family, but I think Shay rates much higher.  Will have to poll the Lovebirds.  Shay wins hands down.

Our sister just got a tricolor puppy named Remi and she had the same wonderful spirit just a tad more energy.

Our new family slogan is, "Get Yourself a Cavalier".  Our children gave me a wonderful Father's Day gift with a picture of Shay and I with the very same caption.

To state it simply Cavaliers are great lovers!  Can the same be said for us.

Do yourself a favor and Get Yourself a Cavalier!

EGO - Edge God Out

Our Ego's can be a hard master.  I, I, I.  Me, Me, Me.

How do we disconnect from the inherent selfishness or turn it down to just background noise when we can find instant gratification all around us.  From an Amazon box to a mouse click.  When we focus all our energies on ourselves and limit our growth and spiritual development.

If we think of our EGO's as that noise that keeps up busy, busy, busy on running around try to accomplish all of life's daily tasks.  You know the ones we never really are able to complete and we're are somehow left wanting more.

From my friend and mentor, Dr. Wayne Dyer, EGO stands for Edge God Out.  The more we focus on the EGO demands we find less time for the the spiritual needs of love, hope, charity, faith, consideration, cooperation, and community,  We become so focused on our wants and needs that we forget we are here to serve.

Our service enables us to live from our higher selves and experience the joy and bliss of our spiritual selves.  While our human selves splash around in the material world our spiritual self thirsts for something more.

What is that something?

A relationship with God.  Better said, a Friendship.  Worship and sacrifice are lovely words but the key word is friendship.  As Dr D. states again whatever name you want to give God is your business, but the important thing is to get to know God.  Have a conversation, a prayer, a meditation, and then listen.  Asking is a wonderful way to start.  Ask for peace, love, health, or even that new car.

And then be patient, humble, and when your prayers are answered we respond in graceful gratitude.

And when we understand all of these tremendous blessings, we learn to become givers ourselves and in giving and sharing we live from our higher spiritual selves.

Give it a try for a few weeks or months and see how your life is transformed.

EGO gone.  Asking, receiving, giving present.

God here.

Vitamin G

We take vitamins to nourish our bodies and give them the fuel so we can live and perform at optimum levels.  But what about our Spirits. We all need some vitamin G. God!

As, Sting of the Police sings, "We are spirits in the material, We are spirits in the material, We are spirits in the material world."

And the Police have to be good to produce such wonderful music.

We are indeed Spirits in the material physical word and we must nourish our minds, bodies, and souls with the Good stuff.  The bible and other spiritual texts are ripe will the words of Jesus, the prophets, and other terrific teachers hiding in plain sight if we just take the time to read, listen, and apply.

We need to fill ourselves with the good. Good words, good music, good food, good drink, and good company.  A life filled with love, friendship, and good will. When we live not for just ourselves but for others we realize our highest self, our highest potential.  For in serving others, we serve ourselves.

We all get lost, absorbed, and too distracted at times with the baubles of the physical material world.  And at these times, our Spirits begin to fade to weaken and must be replenished, fed, nourished, strengthened. When we return to the Divinity from which we sprung we are renewed in the Holy Spirit.

Take the time to get to know God in whatever form you choose.  For the Holy Spirit is the answer to any challenges we may be having.  We are indeed infused with this same Holy Spirit and when we are connected all our concerns fade.  We are abundant, healthy, healed, loved, and at peace in an instant.

Try it! Whatever challenge you are facing today.  Ask for God's help.  Ask the Holy Spirit to assist in whatever you need help with and see how the peace washes over you.  We must humble ourselves and fill our hearts with gratitude for we are blessed with radiant abundance every day if we just clear our eyes and hearts.

We have the gift of this day! This moment!

Let us rejoice and be GLAD! A glad heart.  A glad soul. A glad Spirit is a God spirit.

With God all things are possible.  Remember with the faith of a mustard seed, we can do all things.

All things!

May the Peace of the  Holy Spirit be with us all.  God Bless.

And so it is.

With Love,

Coach K

Woflgang Amadeus Mozart

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Wolfgang Theophilus Mozart.  Mozart preferred the Latin Amadeus over Theophilus.  Amadeus means friend of God or love of God. And you only have to hear the majestic music of Mozart to know that it is divinely inspired.

I remember truly hearing Mozart for the first time in my early 30's after a spending my earlier years listening to classic rock, pop, and easy listening, and just being in a state of wonder.  This was the best thing I've ever heard. Where has this music been all of my life. I have enjoyed it for the next 30 years and in a world of continuous noise classical music can be an oasis of tranquility and exhilaration.

We all hear classical music without realizing it in commercials or movies, but we never really give it a try or let the music into our lives. Give it a try for just 30 minutes and see if you're not transformed, in some way.

Mozart is a transcendent figure, a prodigy who at the age of 5 composed and performed in Salzburg,  Vienna,  and Austria. Mozart was born and lived during another milestone event in the course of human history, the American Revolution.  Mozart's music was filling the heavens while American independence was being forged throughout history.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in Salzburg, Austria on January 27, 1756 to Leopold and Anna Maria.  He was the youngest of seven children, whereas the previous five had not survived infancy.
He had an older sister Marie Anna or "Nannerl" who was five years older. When Nannerl began taking keyboard lessons from their father Leopold at the age of 8, a younger Mozart at the age of 3 watched in rapt attention absorbing every note and lesson.  Their father Leopold was an accomplished violinist and teacher who wrote a successful violin textbook, and was a noteworthy member of the musical community.

Mozart, Nannerl, and their father would tour throughout Europe sharing their musical talents with the royal classes of modern society. Mozart was 6 years old when he was performing on the biggest stages of the world. He was a virtuoso violin and piano player but is best known as a composer. His music has been enjoyed for over 250 years and is featured in movies, commercials and is still continues to influence music to this very day.

Mozart would die at the early age of 35 but given the health of family, he is lucky to have lived at all, and he lives on to this very day with the beautiful music he shares with all of us.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was indeed divinely inspired let his transcendent music wash over you, inspire, and transform you.

Let Go

The New You

"When I let go of who I am, I become what I might be" -  Lao Tzu

We all have these beliefs of who we are or expectations of who we should be, but when we open ourselves up to new ideas and experiences and let go of preconceived notions of what we should be we create space to become the person beyond our greatest expectations.

With a little rain and sunshine plants grow.  With a little love and faith, we can also grow to become better than we every imagined.

With God all things are possible!

Hafiz on Happiness

Happiness

Came across a beautiful quote from the 14th century Persian poet Hafiz,

"Ever since happiness heard your name, it's been running
around the streets trying to find you"

What is Hafiz telling us. We were born to be happy, born to be joyful, filled with hopes and dreams.  We were born in the image of God. When we choose happiness and joy we live from our higher divine selves.

Happiness has nothing to do with material goods or money. When we acknowledge and live from the higher energy of the Holy Spirit we realize that today and each moment is a gift to be celebrated.

Be thankful and filled with gratitude for the miracle that is you.

With Love,

All Things Are Passing God Never Changes

One of the phrases that we can rely on during challenging times is that all things are passing God never changes.   God is the same as Love.  When we are feeling frustrated, angry, anxious, dejected, or worried it's helpful to quiet ourselves and bask in the love of God, family, and friends.  Try and send loving thoughts to the source of your frustration.  Most of the times we find that it is ourselves that needs this love during these trying times, but love is free so let's be generous and give it away.

This too shall pass.

If you want to accomplish something you must first expect it of yourself

If you want to accomplish something you must first expect it of yourself.  So many times in our lives, people have told us what we should expect, what we should do, what we will be, or what we will accomplish.

Many of us have been criticized, told we're not cool, and told that we were unworthy from strangers, the media, friends, and even loved ones. We must ignore the noise and close our ears.

When we think of ourselves as great, beautiful, and extraordinary, we live from that part of ourselves. We honor the beauty that is inside us all.  Instead of belittling your ideas or the ideas of others, think of the great things you have already accomplished and will accomplish in the future starting today.

There are many people out there that believe in you, that want to see you succeed, and will help you on your journey.  Seek them out, welcome them, and embrace them.

Yes you can do it. You can live the life you've imagined but you must first expect if from yourself.

And remember with God all things are possible.

Where is God?

I spent a wonderful evening with a good friend of mine the other night and the conversation turned to the challenges we see in the world today, the economy, the high unemployment, the seemingly endless challenges of life today. The question of God surfaced, and he mentioned that his perception of God was someone in heaven, an outside force, separate from the human race.

How many of us think the same way. We we were taught that God is this all powerful, omnipotent force that casts judgement on sinners and saints. That God is in heaven watching us, and evaluating our performances. When we're good we go to heaven and when we're bad we go to hell.

But is that really the relationship God wants to have with us. A separate relationship based on fear, or reward and punishment, on judgement. Like any other healthy relationship, the relationship is not separate but mutual, united, ONE based on love, trust, caring, nurturing, kindness, and communication. There a many other qualities that go into a good relationship but those qualities don't include fear, retribution, or judgement. If so, the relationship fails. God want to be best friends with us.

Our relationship with God is the same way. We need to love, trust, care, and communicate our needs, wants, and desires. We need to have a love affair with God, to be in love with God. For when we do this, what we are really expressing is a love, trust, kindness, and joy in ourselves, our uniqueness, talents and our divine nature. And we can more readily share ourselves with our family, friends, and the world.

God is not separate from us but within us, part of us. We are one.

Many of us know this or were taught this, but there are also plenty of us that have no idea. How can we be sure that we are part of God, and that God is part of us? Well, God is love. The easy way to think of it is in terms of the "human spirit" or the other higher energy qualities of  Love, Joy, Kindness, Gratitude, Empathy, Compassion, Service, etc. These emotions or forces can't be touched or examined by our senses like a body part, but we know they exist, we can feel them, and we can express them, and most importantly we KNOW when they are in our lives. We all know what it's like to feel loved, to feel kindness, to be thankful.

When we feel or express these emotions, we are expressing God, we are exercising our Divinity, we are one with God. When we wallow in the emotions of hate, anger, jealousy, loneliness, envy, anxiety, and fear we break the communication from God. We turn down and even silence our divine volume. We disconnect from Spirit/God. Hence, the term "broken" spirit. When this happens we experience difficulties in life, life appears to be a struggle, joyless, miserable.

Part of the human condition is to experience the range of emotions in life. We all feel sadness, regret, hurt, and lower energies at times but it's important not to linger there. We need to stick with the higher energies of love, caring, kindness, joyfulness, gratitude, etc. We can learn and train ourselves to spend the vast majority of our time in these higher energies for when we do we are again expressing God or our divinity.

One thought about the word "God". There are many expressions for God from different religions and cultures. And Atheists don't believe in God, and may refer to this as nature, science, the universe, the mind, soul, life force, or any other concept. The important thing is not the name used to define God, but in the connecting, the acknowledging, and most importantly the getting to know this energy.  When we recognize and realize that we are one with God, that God is within us, and wants what's best for us. We can smile and know that we are not alone, all is well, and that we can accomplish all we set out to do.

Remember, God wants us to be happy.

With Love,

Coach K
